What is this website all about?

The purpose of this website is to provide accurate and up-to-date information regarding the treatment of and research into pain. The information should be relevant to second year UK undergraduate students of biomedical sciences and medicine.

In particular, this website composes:

• An introduction to pain: What is pain, why do we need it, is it physical or psychological?

• An overview of the chemical pathways associated with pain: what is happening at the molecular level when pain is felt?

• A description of the current and future drug treatments for pain

• A look at alternative/hollistic therapies for pain: do they work, and if so, how?

Finally, a further help/ references page has been included to direct further study.
